World Impact

I’ve been thinking over the last while about the potential impact a mother (or father) can have on the world. When someone chooses to become a parent, they will have an impact on the world whether they want to or not - for good or bad.

Let’s say someone like my Grandma and Grandpa, who had 9 kids, had 9 kids and each of those kids chose to have 4 kids. And each of those chose to have 4 kids and so on…Within 10 generations, someone like my Grandma and Grandpa have influence in the world larger than the population of the country of Switzerland (9 million+). For every child you have that chooses to have 4 children down the line, you add 1 million people to the world in 10 generations that can ALL be traced directly to your influence.

When my mom says to me, ‘you are raising nations,’ she isn’t kidding. For anyone who would look down on a mother who chose to sacrifice to have babies and raise good kids because she could have better used her talents to help the world elsewhere, I think it would be pretty hard to find any other thing she could do with her time that could compare to that potential for lasting world impact.

Influencing a child for good is creating a better world.
